Using the Poll Everywhere integration with Canvas LMS

Before connecting the Poll Everywhere integration, make sure your course is published and has a start and end date.

To access Poll Everywhere within the Canvas LMS and to connect your Canvas courses:

1. Click the Sign In ( via Canvas ) button above.
2. Sign into Canvas if needed, then click on the desired course.
3. Enable Poll Everywhere for your course by clicking on Settings, then the Navigation tab. Right-click the three dots next to Poll Everywhere to enable, then click Save at the bottom of the page.
4. Click the Poll Everywhere navigation button, then click “Continue to smu.instructure.com.”
5. A new tab will open. Click to acknowledge the launch of Poll Everywhere through Canvas.
6. Once the new course page loads on the Poll Everywhere website, find and click the Sync Roster button that appears. This will import the students from your course into Poll Everywhere.
   
   A green banner will appear at the top of your new course page inviting you to enable the tool. We highly encourage enabling this feature for each of your courses to simplify your grade sync with Canvas.
7. A new page will inform you that the import is underway. Click the “Go to Participants page” button where you should see a new group named after your course that contains the imported student roster. If the group is present, the sync was successful.
8. Head back to the Poll Everywhere home page and click the + Activity button to get started!

Re-sync

If your Canvas course’s roster changes and you need to update your participants in Poll Everywhere, you can re-sync at any time. Re-syncing will update your participant group automatically by creating profiles for new students and removing dropped students. 

To re-sync:

1. Click on the Participants page in your left-side menu.
2. Click the “Courses” button at the top of the page. You will now see a list of all the Canvas courses you have connected with the Poll Everywhere integration.

(If you have enabled the Course Management tool, you can also click the book-shaped Courses icon that is now available in your left-side menu.)

Find the course you need and click the “Sync Roster” button.

Accessing Poll Everywhere Directly

Create standalone polls and activities for meetings, presentations, and more by logging into Poll Everywhere using your ÕýÆ·À¶µ¼º½ credentials.

1. Click the Sign In button above.
2. If not already logged in:
   1. Enter your ÕýÆ·À¶µ¼º½ email address and click Next.
   2. Click "Log in with ÕýÆ·À¶µ¼º½ University."
   3. Confirm your ÕýÆ·À¶µ¼º½ credentials to be redirected back to your Poll Everywhere account.
3. Click the + Activity button to get started!

Re-sync

If your Canvas course’s roster changes and you need to update your participants in Poll Everywhere, you can re-sync at any time. Re-syncing will update your participant group automatically by creating profiles for new students and removing dropped students.

1. Click on the Participants page in your left-side menu.
2. Click the “Courses” button at the top of the page. You will now see a list of all the Canvas courses you have connected with the Poll Everywhere integration.

Find the course you need and click the “Sync Roster” button.

Poll Everywhere is a technology that facilitates and fosters classroom interaction and engagement. Activities are displayed on-screen, and you can respond on your device via the web or mobile app. Poll Everywhere has been integrated with Canvas, and instructors can use it to check for understanding, take attendance, give quizzes, and more.
