Faculty support liaison

A confidential, informal, neutral resource for navigating faculty questions

What is a faculty support liaison?

The faculty support liaison is a confidential, informal, neutral faculty resource who helps colleagues understand options, policies and appropriate channels before deciding what to do next.

The liaison listens, clarifies, points to policy and helps identify the right office or path to address a concern. The goal is to help faculty arrive at the right door with better information.

1. Listen

Hear the concern and help frame the situation.
Help prepare for a meeting or conversation.

2. Clarify

Clarify relevant policies and procedures.
Separate questions of policy from questions of process.

3. Connect

Point to the appropriate office, resource or path.
Encourage constructive next steps.

A simple path for faculty

  1. Bring the question — even if you are not sure it is a “big enough” issue.
  2. Talk through the situation and clarify what you are trying to understand.
  3. Identify the relevant policy, process, office or resource.
  4. Decide your own next step with better information.

The liaison will not identify you or discuss your particular concerns with anyone without your permission. Exception is taken only if we believe that disclosure is necessary in situations that could result in immediate risk of serious harm.
