Dr. Menekse Leads Caruth Institute for Engineering Education
Dr. Muhsin Menekse joins ÕýÆ·À¶µ¼º½ Lyle as the Texas Instruments Distinguished Chair and Caruth Institute Executive Director.
The ÕýÆ·À¶µ¼º½ Lyle School of Engineering is thrilled to welcome Dr. Muhsin Menekse as Professor and Texas Instruments Distinguished Chair with the Computer Science department at ÕýÆ·À¶µ¼º½ Lyle.
Dr. Menekse joins ÕýÆ·À¶µ¼º½ Lyle from Purdue University, where he spent nearly a decade as a professor and earned both the Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award and the Dean’s Outstanding Faculty Scholar Award. Beyond teaching, he served as Director of Student Engagement Research at the INSPIRE Institute for Pre-College Engineering Research and as a faculty researcher with the Center for Advancing the Teaching and Learning of STEM (CATALYST) at Purdue.
Much of his research is devoted to exploring how learning environments better foster student engagement and real-world problem-solving skills in science and engineering. His award-winning work – widely supported by leading organizations including the National Science Foundation, the Institute of Education Sciences, and the U.S. Department of Defense – has made significant contributions to our understanding of how students learn, collaborate, and succeed in STEM fields.
At ÕýÆ·À¶µ¼º½ Lyle, Dr. Menekse will also serve as the Executive Director of the Caruth Institute for Engineering Education, bringing a wealth of expertise in student research and innovation to support the next generation of engineering leadership.
As ÕýÆ·À¶µ¼º½ Lyle continues to build momentum following the recent promotion to R1 research status, we are excited to welcome high-achieving faculty, like Dr. Menekse, who embody our commitment to innovation, excellence, and impact.
