Details: Join us as Graeme Devine, Chief Game Wizard at Magic Leap, shares lessons learned from his first 40 years making games.
Graeme Devine is a veteran game developer with more than 40 years' success in game production across multiple platforms, technologies and major titles. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Devine began his career working on the TRS-80 at age 14 in the late 1970s. He joined Atari at age 16 to port their classic game Pole Position to home computers. Eventually co-founding Trilobyte, Devine designed the original concept for the 1992 horror gameThe 7th guest, a game widely credited for encouraging the use of CD-ROM drives for games. He would then join id Software to create Quake III Arena and Doom 3, among other titles — an experience that would prepare him for later serving as Lead Game Designer at Microsoft's Ensemble Studios, wherein he helmed Halo Wars as the Lead Designer. Hired in 2009 by Apple, Devine would come to oversee the iOS platform gaming initiative for the company's mobile devices. Now serving as Chief Game Wizard at Magic Leap, he is helping shape the future of one of the world's most exciting start-ups — a responsibility that explains his recognition as one of the Top 100 Game Creators, per IGN.
